The District Governor of Dih Bala, members of the District Development Assembly, and representatives from various international aid agencies officially opened a U.S. funded irrigation and micro-hydropower project during a ceremony on April 14, 2010 in Dih Bala district of Nangarhar.
The United States Government’s IDEA-NEW program finished planting more than 250,000 fruit and forestry tree saplings on around 300 hectares of land in 26 districts of Nangarhar, Kunar and Laghman provinces. The campaign was conducted over a one week period in close collaboration with provincial departments of agriculture.
USAID’s IDEA-NEW program, in close cooperation with Provincial Departments of Agriculture, launched a weeklong improved vegetable seed and input distribution campaign in 33 districts of the eastern region on February 16, 2010.
In an effort to finalize provincial planning packages, build ties among Provincial DAILs, share best practices and plan a national extension program, the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) with support from USAID’s IDEA-NEW project will host a two-day plenary workshop at the Intercontinental Hotel.
